Lucknow: The 42nd All India KD Singh ‘Babu’ Men’s Invitation Prize Money Hockey Competition is being organized from 04 to 12 October 2024 at Padma Shri Mohd. Shahid Synthetic Hockey Stadium, Vijayantkhand, Gomtinagar Lucknow under the aegis of Sports Department, Uttar Pradesh.
The competition was inaugurated by Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Guest Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary and Suhas LY lit the lamp and garlanded and offered flowers on the picture of late KD Singh Babu.
After this, the players were introduced and the start of the competition was announced. Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Government honoured Suhas LY, Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Government, World Ranking One in Paralympics, two-time (Tokyo and Paris) silver medalist, with a shawl.
On this occasion, Syed Ali Olympian, Rajneesh Mishra, Mukul Shah, Mohd. Imran,. Nisha Mishra, Ranjana Gupta, Ranjit Raj, Anoop Yadav, Ravikant Yadav, Nishit Dixit, Rajesh Gaur, sports lovers, dignitaries, journalists etc. were present. In the end, Ajay Kumar Sethi, Regional Sports Officer thanked the chief guest, players, journalists and other dignitaries.
The first match of the competition was played between CRPF vs GST Central Chennai. In the 9th minute of the match, Almaz Khan from GST team scored a field goal to open his team’s account with a score of 1-0. In reply, in the 11th minute, Lovejit Singh from CRPF team converted a penalty corner into a goal and made his team’s score 1-1. In the 16th minute of the match, Almaz again scored a goal from a penalty stroke from GST team and made his team’s score 2-1. In the 32nd minute of the match, Lovejit Singh again scored a field goal from CRPF team and brought his team to a 2-2 draw and in the 40th minute of the match, Mohd. Washiullah Khan again scored a field goal from CRPF team and made his team’s score 3-2.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Sujin Jarpula from GST team converted a penalty corner into a goal and brought his team to a 3-3 draw. This score remained till the end.
The second match of the competition was played between Army XI vs Punjab & Sindh Bank. In the 19th minute of the match, Paramveer Singh from PSB team scored a goal from a penalty corner and made his team’s score 1-0, in reply to which Johnson Purti from Army XI team scored a field goal in the 33rd minute of the match and made his team’s score 1-1. Mandeep Singh from PSB team scored a field goal in the 36th minute of the match and made his team’s score 2-1. Manish Rajbhar from Army XI team scored a goal from a penalty corner in the 37th minute and Ramandeep Singh from Army XI team scored a goal in the 41st minute and made their team 3-2 ahead. Mandeep Singh from PSB team scored a field goal in the 45th minute and Aman Thakur from PSB team scored a field goal in the 57th minute and made their team 4-3. This score remained till the end. In this way PSB defeated Army XI by 4-3.
